First Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year!! Santa and the Grandparents were very good to Mason....he has been a good boy ya know! I can' t wait until Mason can rip into the gifts....this year well....he watched us open, slept a little, and probably won't remember any of it, but we have it on tape :) We also took him to see Santa, but he was very tired and just looked at Santa like: WHO ARE YOU AND WHY IS MY MOM SITTING ME IN YOUR LAP, then he fell asleep again.

You know you are getting older when you are afraid of the fireworks of New Years waking up your child instead of you shooting off the fireworks. Needless to say we were all in bed by 10:00pm and the fireworks were going strong and they woke Marcus and I up at midnight, but Mason slept right through them!! He is a great sleeper :)

I hope everyone had a very Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year.....no New Years resolutions for me this year that way maybe some of my goals will be kept!!

I've Been A Good Boy

The countdown is on.....25 days till Mason's First Christmas and almost a year ago when I found out I was pregnant. Boy does time fly. He has already had his first trip, first Halloween, first Thanksgiving and now in 25 days his first Christmas. If you can't read on his hat it says "I've been a good boy" and that rings true!! I could not have asked for a more precious gift. He has been sleeping through the night for almost a month now, he is always smiling, and he is my heart!! I could not imaging my life without him. He is stuck with us forever!!!

This week he has especially been a really good boy. His Uncle Monte is moving to Houston and he came to town for the week to look for a place to live before he starts his job next Monday. Monte, Mason, and I all week have been busy apartment huting, furniture shopping, and mall shopping for work clothes!! Mason tagged along all week and was a real trooper. Here are a few pictures of Mason today while we were furniture shopping. He was all smiles which warmed my heart on such a cold cold day.

*I am looking for a My first Christmas ornament and have not found the perfect one yet....if anyone knows of any place let me know.....I want something maybe personalized and for sure with the date on it. I have searched and searched and I am running out of ideas.

Dress Up

Only once in Mason's life will I ever get to play dress up with him......when he can't talk!! He tries to talk but I just pretend he is telling me how much he loves me and what a great mom I am instead of "stop dressing me up I just want to hang out in my diaper" One thing Mason is not lacking of is clothes. I find something new everyday. I have forgotten all the clothes he recieved from his showers and ones I bought when I was pregnant. I want him to get to wear all his clothes at least once, ya know. He also has more shoes than me!! The ones he has on are Robeez and they are wonderful....they can't kick them off and they seem very comfortable. He has quite a few pair of these, they come in all colors and different styles. My little man is getting so big I just can't believe my eyes when I look at him. I love every little piece of him.....my heart overflows with joy to have him in my life.

Road Trip

This past weekend Mason took his first road trip. WOW!!! There is so much you have to pack for a lil one....I almost forgot I had to pack for myself :) We went to Austin to visit my sister and to do a little shopping. My mom came too!! She rode with Mason and me to Austin. Mason was a real trooper. He slept the whole way in the car. My mom, sister and I went shopping in San Marcus on Monday while Papa (my dad) kept Mason. They had a little boy day of pooping, playing, and most imporantly sleeping. On Monday night Aunt Laura and Uncle Matthew came to see him. He just loved their company. She was so cute with him....he remembered her from when she first saw him only 2 days old. We all had a fun shopping, relaxing, and just hanging out in Austin and we are ready for the holidays. I can't believe only a short week until it is Thanksgiving.

These past two months have been a whirlwind. I can't believe how fast time flies. In my last couple weeks of pregnancy I thought a minute felt like an eternity and now the minutes fly by so quickly. It has been a blessing to have Mason in our lives and we are lucky to have such a wonderful baby. Each day I love making him smile. I can't wait till we will be watching our little guy play baseball, football, or whatever he desiers. I know that time will come shortly and I will enjoy the present because they grow and change daily. Here are a few pics from the Road trip and Mason having fun with mom and modeling his new ski cap.

2 Month Check-Up

We went today to Mason's 2 month check-up. He is looking healtier than every. He was weighed measured and stuck with many needles. The poor lil guy!! When he went in for his 2 week check up and they weighed him he sprayed himself in his eye with his pee!! This time (being older and wiser) he held it in until I put his diaper back on....good boy!! Mason weighed 11 lbs 13 ozs (almost doubled from when we brought him home). This makes him in the 50% . Mason was 23 in long which also put him in the 50%. I have a growing boy on my hands. After the doc came in checked him out and told us what we already knew, we had a very healthy and beautiful little boy, we waited for the nurse to come give him his shots!! During this time Mason was happy smiling and gooing. When that door opened he knew what was about to happen...did I also mention how SMART my boy is? Mason clenched his fists and started to cry....he knew what he was in for. The nurse gave him his immuzations which consisted of 4 shots 2 in each leg and the rotovirus through a liquid drop. Mason was a trooper. I am proud of him and can't wait to spend the rest of my life watching him grow and change.

Thank God for Grandparents

What would we do without our parents!! There are no other people in the world that jump at the chance to stay up ALL night, change DIRTY diapers, and SMILE the whole time. I am very thankful for Mason's grandparents. He is so lucky to have them in his life. They love him more than anything. I am luck too!! Marcus and I just went on a little vacation to Las Vegas and Nanny and Papa (my parents) kept Mason over the weekend and they had a blast. Everytime the grandparents come for the weekend and have to leave they have tears in their eyes. I do wish we all lived closer to share these precious times more often.

As for Marcus and I....it was really hard to leave Mason. I did shead many many tears. The only thing that kept me from going nuts was knowing he was in great hands. I did call about every hour just to hear my little guy laugh, cry, eat or even snore while he was sleeping. We did have a great time just the two of us in Vegas. We went to a show, ate, got massages, and relaxed. I went to Neimans and got a make over for a new post baby look. The lady who did my makeover had just done Jewl's makeup a few months before. I ended up buying all the makeup...I just loved it. It was a relaxing getaway, but I was happy to come home and wrap my arms around Mason.

Trick or Treat

My lil punkin' was a pumpkin for Halloween!! He was such a good sport. We dressed him up, took millions of pictures and took him to my friend Kelly's house to go Trick or Treating. Needless to say he slept the whole time and I ended up eating his candy ;) I just want to eat him up too!!!

If your happy and you know it......

Mason had just finished his dinner and we were about to all leave so Marcus and I could have our dinner, and Mason was just a giggling!! Since he has been staying up most of the day now he loves to play, smile and giggle. I just love it! I caught these two pictures as we were leaving and they are priceless. He is so happy....probably because his little tummy was all filled up with goods :) He also loves it when I brush his hair...what little hair he has. At 7 weeks it is just amazing how quickly they grow and change. I can't keep my eyes off of him. Next week Marcus and I are taking a little vacation and it will be hard to leave my lil guy.

Favorite Places....

Mason loves to eat and eat and eat and eat!! My lil guy who weighed 6 lbs 11 ozs at the hospital now is a big boy weighing in at 10 lbs 5 ozs. He has even graduated from the newborn diapers to the size 1. I can not believe how he has change right before my eyes. I love watching him grow and change and learn new things everyday.

Mason loves to play in his crib listening to his mobile. He just stares and smiles and talks everytime he is put in his crib. Another fave of his is his changing table. He loves to lay up there and play with this little onesie outfit I have hanging from a shelf. He hits it with his hands and loves to watch is sway back and forth. He also loves to have his diaper changed. I think he loves it so much because he loves to "spray" or "squirt" us everytime we take his diaper off. Just when I think I am getting smarter than him, he does it again and just laughs. I can't help but laugh myself. I never knew that a person that little could produce that much "STUFF" in his diaper :)

It never fails. When Mason gets fussy just lay him on his daddy's chest and he is calmed. I guess my chest is not "flat" enough for him :) (not for long...I am sure soon enough I will be back down to my regular size and Mason will be able to be soothed by me!! :)

Mason also loves tummy time. He loves it when I lay him on his tummy we just lay there and play. He is so strong. Weeks ago he was able to lift his little half bald head, but now he is keeping it up for longer and turning it from side to side. One day sooner than later he will be bigger and stronger than me....what will I do! (Look at those big blue eyes...they melt my heart)

One Month Old

WOW!!! Time sure does fly. I can't believe my lil guy is a month old today. It seems like a while ago I gave birth, but it seems just like yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital. Being a mom has been wonderful. I see him change daily. It is amazing to watch him look and learn new things around him and smile at us. Marcus is such a wonderful dad. Watching them together is awesome. I love my two men!!
We went to the doc the other day due to reflux and an upset tummy and they weighed Mason in. He was 7lbs 6ozs at his 2 week appointment and when we went in around 3 1/2 weeks he weighed 9lbs. WOW!! My boy is not so little anymore. The doc said he gained 2 pounds in almost 2 weeks which was a lot. They are supposed to gain 1/2 a pound a week. I guess I have a little pig on my hands. All in all he is very healthy and a very happy little one. I could not ask for more.

(we do party at around 2:30 and then again at 6:30...so if anyone is awake at that time don't hesitate to call :) This collage is a group of pictures we had taken professionally on Friday. We took so many great pictures it will be hard to choose which ones we will order. While we were taking the pictures.....Mason was nude and what do little boys do when the cold air hits their lil pee pee....Well you guessed it he tee teed all over his mom. I am used to it now. Mason doesn't go to the bathroom until his diaper is off. He loves to aim for his own eye or mine :)

There is a little glare on one of the pictures because I had to take a picture of the computer to share the collage. I just love his little profile. He does have his mom's nose. (Sorry little buddy!!)

He changes daily!!!

I can't believe how Mason has already changed. We brought him home from the hospital weighing 6 lbs 11 ozs and 19 1/4 in long. After his 2 week check up last Friday he weighed 7 lbs 6 ozs and grew a whole inch!! It just makes me think how fast he is going to grow up and not be my little baby anymore!! I love to just stare at him and look into his blue eyes (who knows if or when they will change) and kiss all over his cheeks and his little feet. He is a gift from God :)!

The Face of an ANGEL.....Mason Michael Schultz

WOW!!! These past two weeks have flown by. On the night of September 7th I went into labor at 1:25 am. I labored at home for the next 2 1/2 hours when my water finally broke at 4:00 am. I then woke Marcus up and he jumped out of bed and we headed off for the hospital. I was excited, nervous, anxious, and too many other emotions I can't even describe. When I arrived at the hospital my contractions were tollerable. I was only 1 cm dilated and 90% effaced. They put me on pitocin to regulate my contractions. At around 8:00 am on the 8th they asked if I wanted some pain medicine. I said sure....I don't know what it was called, but it made me feel very very happy (drunk)!! That wore off quick and I was glad it did. About an hour later they came and said the epidural doc was making rounds and wanted to know if I wanted one. I hesitated because the contractions were still tollerable, but gave in. The doc came in to give me my epidural, but they would not let Marcus in the room. I was nervous!! When the doc started the epidural I began to bleed very very bad. The doc was nervous and asking ME when I was bleeding.......LIKE I KNEW....she was the doc!!! Long story short after my first epidural wore off after about 30 minutes the same crazy doc came in and gave me more medicine through my IV. Well needless to say that wore off in about 30 minutes too and I was back to feeling every contraction. Then my nurse got another epidural doc and sent her in. This now my second epidural, but 4th stick in my back because of the first doc, I thought finally now I will get some releif. I guess I was so stresses, anxious, high blood pressure, the whole nine yards I passed completely out for several hours. I awoke AGAIN to the feeling of every contraction. They checked me again finally and was 9 cm. They told me I had about 2 hours left of labor. Well I proved them wrong!! After the nurse left I yelled for her to come back in because Mason was waiting no longer to make his appearance. Twenty minutes later of pushing and no pain medication feeling every little thing, Mason was born at 2:09pm on September 8th. Needless to say my labor and delivery went......well not normal....Mason was born a 6 lb 11 oz 19 1/4 in long little boy. When he was born he and I both had a very high fever of 103-104, so they had to quickly wisk him away to the NICU. This broke my heart, because I was not able to see him for a while and was not able to feed him. Marcus was able to go with him to the NICU for the first part of Mason's life. As I try to think back.. it is hard for me to remember parts of the birth. It has saddended me, but I have a perfect little angel I thank god for every day!!

After delivery I had several complications which kept me in the hospital longer than anticipated. Preeclampsia, chemical meningitis, blood patches, and spinal headaches were only the beginning of my long road to recovery. Today I can say I am feeling much better and every time I look at my precious little boy I feel amazing. My birth story is not experienced by many and I am thankful for that. I just had to share my story.

Mason at one week old. How handsome is he!!

Right after Mason was born...he has a set of lungs on him :) My precious boy giving us a little smile while he is peacefully sleeping.
